Jesus is Coming

If You Knew Jesus Was Coming Tomorrow

Imagine waking up tomorrow morning to an unusual silence.

No political headlines.

No sports scores.

No advertisements.

Instead, every television station, every newspaper, every social media feed, every billboard, and every phone notification carried the very same message.

Jesus is coming.

What would be your first thought?

Would your heart fill with excitement?

Would it be fear?

Or perhaps...

both?

If I'm honest, I think it would be both.

I would be overwhelmed with joy because I know my Savior.

The One I've prayed to.

The One who carried my sin to the cross.

The One who has faithfully walked with me through every season of my life.

The thought of finally seeing Him face to face is almost beyond imagination.

But my joy would quickly be interrupted by another thought.

Who doesn't know Him?

Names would begin flooding my mind.

Family.

Friends.

Neighbors.

People I've worked beside.

People I've laughed with.

People I've assumed there would always be more time to talk to.

I don't think my first instinct would be to pack a suitcase.

Or clean my house.

Or finish a project.

I think I would start making phone calls.

I would tell them about Jesus.

I would tell them about the cross.

I would tell them that forgiveness is available.

I would tell them about the empty tomb.

I would tell them that the invitation is still open.

Then I would pray with all my heart.

As I sat with that thought, something deeply sobering settled over me.

The truth is...

Jesus is coming.

I don't know the day.

I don't know the hour.

Neither does anyone else.

But His return is not a possibility.

It is a promise.

So why do I sometimes live as though there will always be another tomorrow?

Jesus' final instructions to His followers were not to speculate about dates.

They were to make disciples.

To go.

To tell.

To bear witness.

To love people enough to share the hope we have found.

Somewhere along the way, we've allowed sharing our faith to become intimidating.

We tell ourselves we don't know enough.

We don't have all the answers.

We might say the wrong thing.

But think about the people you love most.

If they were standing on the edge of danger, would perfect words matter?

Or would love simply compel you to speak?

Perhaps the greatest qualification for sharing Jesus isn't knowing every verse in the Bible.

Perhaps it's loving people enough that you cannot remain silent.

And if you truly don't know how to share the gospel...

Don't let that become your excuse.

Let it become your invitation.

Open God's Word.

Study it.

Ask questions.

Learn the story of redemption until it becomes your story too.

Because the more clearly you see the heart of God, the more naturally you will speak of Him.

After all...

that's what love does.

It talks about the One it loves.

One day, faith will become sight.

One day, every knee will bow.

One day, we will stand before the King.

Until that day comes, may we live with the urgency of people who know the promise is true...

and the compassion of people who remember there are still others who need to hear it.

So perhaps the question isn't,

"What would I do if I knew Jesus was coming tomorrow?"

Perhaps the better question is,

"If Jesus came today, would the people I love know that I loved Him enough to tell them about Him?"

May that question not fill us with guilt.

May it fill us with love.

The kind of love that cannot keep the greatest news the world has ever known to itself.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
— Matthew 28:19–20

Thought for Today

If Jesus returned today, would the people I love know that I loved Him enough to tell them about Him?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the hope of Your promised return. Forgive me for the times I've lived as though there would always be another tomorrow. Fill my heart with such love for You that I cannot keep the Good News to myself. Give me courage to speak, wisdom to know when to speak, and compassion that sees people through Your eyes. Help me live each day with urgency, not fear; with hope, not hesitation; and with a heart that longs for others to know the Savior I love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Reflection Question

If you truly knew Jesus was coming tomorrow, who is the very first person you would want to tell about Him—and what's keeping you from sharing that hope today?
