It’s Not You…It’s Me
What if “I don’t trust myself” really means something deeper?
💭 “It’s Not You… It’s Me”
Tonight I sat quietly, thinking about what it really means to trust God.
And without even realizing it…
I started making excuses.
“God… it’s not You I don’t trust.
It’s me.”
That sounded honest.
It even felt a little humble.
But then… in that quiet way He speaks…
I felt Him press back gently:
“That still means you don’t trust Me, Joelle.
Because if you truly trusted Me…
you wouldn’t be so concerned with trusting yourself.”
That got me.
Because as much as I didn’t want to admit it…
He was right.
🤍 What Trust Really Looks Like
If I fully trust God…
then I don’t have to rely on myself.
If I’m truly seeking Him…
listening to Him…
following Him…
Then I’m not left trying to figure everything out on my own.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6
Not some trust.
Not partial trust.
All.
🔍 A Deeper Truth
Because when we start saying things like:
“I just don’t trust myself to make the right decision…”
What we’re really revealing is this:
We’re still trying to be the one making the decision.
We’re still holding control.
But trust shifts that.
Trust says:
God, You lead.
God, You guide.
God, You make the path clear.
And I will follow.
🕊️ Surrender Changes Everything
It doesn’t mean we become careless.
It means we become surrendered.
Because when I’m focused on God…
when I’m walking closely with Him…
when I’m seeking His voice above everything else…
I’m not worried about whether I’ll make the wrong choice.
Because I’m not choosing alone.
“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him.”
— Psalm 37:23
💡 The Question That Matters
So maybe the question isn’t:
“Do I trust myself?”
Maybe the real question is:
“Am I trusting God enough to lead me?”
Because when we truly trust Him…
We stop overanalyzing.
We stop second-guessing.
We stop carrying the weight of every decision.
And we start following.
✨ A Gentle Pause
So the next time you find yourself saying,
“I just don’t trust myself…”
Pause.
And ask yourself honestly:
Is it me I don’t trust…
or is it God?
Because trusting Him…
Changes everything.
📖 Scripture
"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will act."
— Psalm 37:5
💭 Reflection
Where are you still trying to lead instead of letting God lead?
🙏 Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the times I say I trust You but still try to control my life. Help me surrender fully, follow Your lead, and trust You with every decision. Amen.
