Are You With God..or is God With You?

It sounds the same… but it changes everything.

🚶‍♀️ Are You With God… or Is God With You?

At first, it sounds like the same thing.

God is with me.

I am with God.

But when you sit with it…

it’s not the same at all.

Because if God is with you,

it can look like you’re leading.

You’re making the plans.

You’re choosing the direction.

You’re deciding the pace.

And God is coming along with you.

But if you are with God…

Everything shifts.

He leads.

You follow.

He directs.

You trust.

He goes before… and you walk behind Him.

🧡 A Simple Prayer That Changes Everything

My grandson and I have a saying every time we walk out the door:

“God, go before us.”

It’s simple… but it changes everything.

Because we don’t want to go first.

We don’t want to figure it all out on our own

and then ask God to bless what we’ve already decided.

We want to follow.

📖 What Jesus Actually Said

Jesus made this clear when He called His disciples:

“Come, follow Me.”

— Matthew 4:19

He didn’t say,

“Go ahead, and I’ll be right behind you if you need Me.”

He said,

Follow Me.

⚖️ The Honest Tension

There’s a difference between inviting God into your plans…

and surrendering to His.

And if we’re honest…

It’s easy to slip into leading.

We make decisions.

We move forward.

We build our lives.

And then we ask God to be with us in it.

But God never asked us to lead.

He asked us to follow.

“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you…”

— Deuteronomy 31:8

He goes before.

Our job is not to get ahead of Him…

but to stay close behind Him.

💭 A Gentle Heart Check

So today, take a moment and ask yourself:

Where am I following God?

Where am I trying to lead?

Where am I trusting Him to guide me?

Where am I asking Him to bless what I’ve already decided?

Because peace isn’t found in having God follow you.

Peace is found in following Him.

🌿 A Daily Practice

So as you step into your day…

Pause at the door.

And simply pray:

“God, go before me.”

Then follow.

📖 Scripture

"In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

— Proverbs 3:6

💭 Reflection

Are you asking God to follow your plans… or are you choosing to follow His?

🙏 Prayer

Lord, help me follow You instead of leading my own way. Go before me in every step I take, and teach me to trust Your direction. Amen.

✔️ Practical Step

Before making any decision today, pause and ask: “Lord, is this Your direction or mine?”
