Maybe the most important question isn’t “What do I want?” but “Does this align with God?”
✨ Does It Align With God?
I have told people so many times to make a pros and cons list when making a decision.
Honestly… I still think there’s wisdom in writing things down.
There’s something powerful about putting your thoughts on paper.
About slowing down long enough to actually see what’s in front of you.
But this morning, as I studied God’s Word and journaled about my own life…
I realized something.
Sometimes a pros and cons list is the wrong approach.
Because not every decision should be measured by:
✔️ comfort
✔️ convenience
✔️ money
✔️ popularity
✔️ opportunity
✔️ feelings
Sometimes the real question is much simpler:
🤍 Does This Align With God?
Not:
Will this make me happy?
But:
Will this move me closer to Him?
Does it align with His Word?
Does it reflect His character?
Does it point me toward His will?
Will it help guide me — and possibly others — closer to God?
Because there are plenty of things in life that look good on paper…
But don’t align with God.
And there are also things that feel difficult, uncomfortable, or even scary…
Yet lead us directly into His purpose.
📝 Maybe We Need New Headings
So maybe the answer isn’t throwing away the pros and cons list altogether.
Maybe it’s changing the title.
Instead of:
Pros and Cons
Maybe our lists should say:
✅ Aligns With God
❌ Doesn’t Align With God
Because suddenly the focus changes.
Instead of asking:
“What do I want?”
We begin asking:
“What honors God?”
And that changes everything.
It shifts our perspective from temporary feelings…
to eternal purpose.
It moves us away from self-centered decision making…
and toward surrendered living.
“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness…”

🌿 Clearer… Not Always Easier
When we truly seek God first, decisions become clearer.
Not always easier.
But clearer.
Because alignment with God won’t always make sense to the world.
Sometimes obedience looks foolish.
Sometimes faith feels risky.
Sometimes God asks us to walk away from things that seem good…
Because He sees something better.
And honestly…
What good is a “pro” if it pulls you away from God?
And what if the very thing listed as a “con” is actually the place where your faith grows the most?
💭 A Gentle Invitation
So the next time you’re searching for direction…
Grab a piece of paper.
Make your list.
But maybe this time…
change the headings.
And ask yourself honestly:
✨ Does this align with God?
Because that one question…
Can change the direction of your entire life.

The best decisions aren’t always the easiest — they’re the ones that align with God.

Does this draw me closer to God… or further from Him?
Then listen carefully.
