What You’re Attracted To Shapes Your Life
What holds your attention is shaping your peace, your priorities, and your purpose.
📖 Scripture
“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
— Matthew 6:33
“Taste and see that the Lord is good.”
— Psalm 34:8
📘 Bible Study
Whatever we are attracted to holds our attention.
It narrows our focus.
It pulls our thoughts.
It shapes our priorities.
Attraction is powerful because it prevents distraction.
We give time, energy, and affection to what captivates us most.
And here’s an honest truth we don’t talk about enough:
There is nothing in this life that can hold our attraction without cost—
except God.
We can be attracted to a person, and other areas of our life begin to suffer.
We can be attracted to our jobs, and our relationships weaken.
We can be attracted to hobbies, success, or even health, and find ourselves exhausted, imbalanced, or empty.
But when we are attracted to God—
not one area of our lives suffers.
Instead, everything improves.
Our relationships grow healthier.
Our decisions become wiser.
Our peace becomes steadier.
Our purpose becomes clearer.
God does not compete with our lives—
He completes them.
💭 So How Do We Become More Attracted to God?
We don’t force it.
We don’t manufacture it.
We don’t pretend.
We get to know Him.
Attraction grows through familiarity.
Love grows through understanding.
Trust grows through knowing someone’s character.
And the only way we can truly know who God is—and who He is not—
is through His Word.
Not just the comforting verses.
Not just what we hear in church or from others.
But the full story of who God reveals Himself to be.
You don’t fall in love with someone you don’t spend time with.

🌿 Attraction Leads to Resemblance
Here’s the beautiful truth:
When you become attracted to God’s character,
you begin to resemble it.
Love grows in you.
Grace softens you.
Truth steadies you.
Peace follows you.
And without trying to impress anyone, the world notices.
“You are the light of the world.”
— Matthew 5:14
People are drawn not to perfection—
but to authenticity shaped by God.
💭 Reflection
What has been holding most of your attention lately—and how has it been shaping your life?
❓ A Question for You
Is what you’re most attracted to drawing you closer to God—or quietly pulling you away?
🙏 Prayer
Lord, draw my heart toward You.
Help me desire what brings life, peace, and wholeness.
Reveal where my attention has drifted and gently pull me back to You.
Teach me to know You, love You, and reflect You in every part of my life.
Amen.
👣 Practical Step
This week, intentionally replace one distraction with time in God’s Word.
