Well Done
Well Done
๐ Scripture
โWell done, good and faithful servant.โ
โ Matthew 25:23
๐ฟ
When a friend or loved one passes away, our hearts hurt.
Even when we know where they are.
Even when we know they are no longer suffering.
Even when we believe with all our hearts that they are standing in the presence of Jesus.
There is still an emptiness.
A chair that sits empty.
A voice we can no longer call.
A laugh we can only hear in our memories.
And if we're honest, our emotions often get the best of us.
We ask questions.
Why did they have to leave?
Why now?
Why couldn't we have had a little more time?
โค๏ธ Heart
Today, as I was thinking about a loved one who recently passed, I found myself smiling instead of crying.
Not because I don't miss her.
Not because my heart doesn't still ache.
But because I know something beautiful happened the moment she entered eternity.
I can almost imagine her hearing the words we all long to hear:
โWell done, good and faithful servant.โ
โ Matthew 25:23
As I sat with that thought, God did what He often does.
He used one thought to reveal another.
And suddenly I realized something.
Those words aren't reserved only for the day we die.
Those are words God can speak over our lives every single day.
Not in perfection.
Not because we never fail.
Not because we always get it right.
But because each day we choose to follow Him.
Somehow, without realizing it, I think I've approached many days with the goal of simply surviving them.
Just make it through.
Get everything done.
Hope I didn't mess up too badly.
Try again tomorrow.
But what if that's the wrong goal?
What if instead of surviving the day...
We lived each day seeking to hear:
"Well done, My good and faithful servant."
What if we woke up asking:
"Lord, what would make You smile today?"
What if we sought His plan instead of our own?
What if we looked for opportunities to love, forgive, encourage, serve, and trust?
Not because we're trying to earn His approval.
But because we already have His love.
And then, at the end of the day, we sat quietly with Him.
Reflecting.
Listening.
Resting.
Knowing that even when we fail, His grace remains.
Because the beautiful truth is this:
The days we fall short...
We can ask for forgiveness.
We can repent.
And we can begin again.
Every day is a new opportunity to walk with God.
Every morning is a fresh invitation.
Every sunrise is a reminder that His mercies are new.
โBecause of the Lordโs great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.โ
โ Lamentations 3:22โ23
What a gift.
What a beautiful blessing to live in such a time as this.
Yes, the world often feels chaotic.
Broken.
Confused.
Sometimes it even feels as though darkness is gaining ground.
But through Jesus...
Redemption is still available.
Grace is still available.
Miracles are still happening.
Love still wins.
Hope still exists.
And God is still calling His people to walk faithfully with Him.
So tonight, before you lay your head on your pillow, take a moment.
Sit quietly with God.
Reflect on your day.
Celebrate what He did through you.
Repent where you fell short.
And then listen.
Because perhaps the greatest goal isn't simply making it through another day.
Perhaps it's living in such a way that every evening, our hearts can hear Him whisper:
"Well done."
โจ Takeaway
A faithful life isn't built in one grand moment.
It's built one ordinary day at a time.
One choice.
One prayer.
One act of obedience.
One surrendered step after another.
๐ฑ Action Step
Before you go to bed tonight, spend five quiet minutes with God.
Ask yourself:
Where did I follow Him today?
Where did I resist Him?
What would I do differently tomorrow?
Then thank Him for His grace and commit the next day to Him.
๐ Prayer
Lord, help me live today in a way that honors You. Teach me to seek Your will, trust Your guidance, and walk faithfully in Your purpose. Help me stop measuring success by what I accomplish and start measuring it by my obedience to You. And when I fail, remind me of Your grace and invite me to begin again. Amen.
๐ฌ Reflection Question
If your goal today was to hear God say, โWell done,โ what might you do differently tomorrow?
๐ค If this encouraged you, share it with someone who may need the reminder that faithfulness is found in the small daily moments.
